Chair of Care City Board

Summary

We are looking for a new Chair for our Care City Board. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding and inspiring the board of directors to ensure effective governance, strategic oversight, and the achievement of our organisational objectives.

In addition to providing visionary leadership, the Chair will champion Care City’s mission and work, helping to grow relationships, expand our impact, and support national scalability.

Remuneration: All expenses will be paid. In addition, we will offer £6k compensation for this role (open to conversation).

Aim of the role

Care City Community Interest Company is based in North East London and is dedicated to transforming health and social care systems to better serve communities. Our mission is to support people across North East London to live healthier, happier lives, with a focus on making the region the best place to grow old. Through innovation, community-led change, and the integration of health and social care, we aim to fix a broken system and spread our impact nationwide.

As we enter an exciting period of growth, we are seeking a Chair of the Board to provide leadership, challenge, and inspiration to our team and board of directors. The Chair will play a critical role in steering the organisation through its next phase, ensuring that our work continues to deliver benefits of local and national significance.

Role Overview

The Chair will lead Care City’s board, guiding it to fulfill its oversight responsibilities and effectively support the organisation’s mission. This role involves chairing board meetings, fostering collaboration among board members, and overseeing sub-groups to ensure their smooth operation. The Chair will also provide mentorship, development, and strategic support to the CEO.

In addition, the Chair will champion Care City’s values, acting as a driving force for innovation and the growth of impactful relationships. An important focus will be on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the organisation and in the communities we serve. The Chair will work closely with the board to ensure new members reflect the diversity of our communities and that all efforts are aligned with our mission to deliver lasting change.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead board meetings and support sub-groups in their effective functioning
  • Provide mentorship, support and direction to the CEO
  • Champion innovation, diversity, and equity in all areas of Care City’s work
  • Support the scaling of Care City’s impact both locally and nationally
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among board members

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Executive experience in health and/or social care, with a track record of leading change
  • Expertise in navigating complex political environments
  • Proven leadership during organisational growth and change
