Work with us to write your own role
Care City is a Community Interest Company with a big mission: to make North East London the best place to grow old. We believe in happier, healthier lives for everyone, and we’re tackling the challenges of a health and care system that isn’t working for people.
Through bold innovation, community-led change and the best use of technology, we’re showing how things can be better—working spectacularly openly to share our learning so others can replicate and scale it. We implement new roles, ways of working and technology, collaborate with communities and partners, and deliver projects that create local impact with national significance.
This is an exciting time to join us. Our dynamic team of 12 has already achieved so much, growing our influence across North East London and beyond. We’re valued by local authorities, innovation partners, stakeholders and the communities we serve.
We’re at a pivotal moment, with a real opportunity to demonstrate how integration, innovation and community action can significantly improve lives—and we’re looking for passionate people to help us take this work to the next level.
At Care City we’re working hard to bring about radical change that realises a more relational approach to health and care that involves communities, new care roles, and ways of working with public and health partners that are supported by better technology.
We’re trying to solve some of the most difficult, and most important, questions across health, care and the community:
- How do we help people who draw on care and support transform services so they better work for them?
- How do we help people stay well, and in the place they call home, to manage their health and avoid unnecessary hospital visits?
- How can we get the best from technology, AI and data that helps people delivering health and care services to do their jobs and improves experiences for people accessing them?
- How do we evidence the outcomes that matter (including cost savings) and build successful business cases so others can replicate benefits?
- How do we support cultural change in the workforce to realise innovation and transformation?
- What are the new roles needed to support a more integrated workforce across social care, health and the VCSE sector?
- How do we create a social care sector which is seen as a place of opportunity, prestige and personal and professional growth?
- What are the new models of finance and commissioning needed to support this change?
We need help to answer these questions and are looking to grow our team and in-house expertise to create the change we want to see.
Our passionate and dedicated team have a range of expertise across health, social care and community and skills in design research, tech implementation, evaluation, community engagement, organisational strategy, and workforce innovation to name but a few!
We are looking for people who can add to and build upon our skills and experience by helping with:
- Service design
- Delivery management
- Hands on change experience
- Experience of implementing new digital solutions working closely with new technologies considering implications e.g. info governance and data sharing
- Building on our Adult Social Care knowledge and experience
- Helping realise the potential of technology, digital and data
- Community engagement
- Building the case for change including financial benefits and measuring impact
- Helping Care City to grow through finding and developing innovative opportunities
We are looking for people who:
- Believe in the necessity and opportunities for our approach to care to be better
- Are committed to helping a small organisation to develop and grow, including through business development
- Enjoys working across several projects at a time, spinning different plates working as part of multidisciplinary teams
- Are comfortable with uncertainty within projects and understand that iteration and adapting to change is essential for innovation
- Are led by the needs of those we’re working to benefit and don’t assume that any approach (including technology and AI) is automatically the answer
- Understand that cost saving and case making is a vitally important aspect to achieving change
- Are comfortable with a surprisingly high level of animal chat during team meetings (it’s primarily dog based at the moment but we’re open to diversity!)
We don’t have set roles or role titles in mind and would like to speak to people who think they could help with any of these areas. Alternatively, if you have a different skill set that you think would benefit Care City but it’s not listed then we’d like to speak to you too! We’re open to conversations about full and part time roles.
We think this might look like three roles (but are very open to conversations if you think any of this sounds like you):
- Someone who can manage the rhythms of projects and keep teams focussed, support change, and communicate the story of the work. Someone who is comfortable managing delivery across multidisciplinary teams and enjoys getting things implemented. £40-50K
- Someone who cares about people’s strengths and needs and will bring design led approaches and creativity to challenges and develop innovative new solutions to problems in health and social care, using experience of complex service design and public service reform. £50-60K
- Someone who can hold a portfolio of varied senior relationships with our partners, developing existing and new relationships into new work, oversee and bring together various complex programmes of work, and motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams £60-70K
