Partnering for Innovation in Adult Social Care with Thames Freeport and Rainmaking
Collaborating with Rainmaking to help build the Thames Freeport Adult Social Care Accelerator—a bold initiative to transform care through innovative technology.
Our care system is under strain, struggling to meet the growing volume and complexity of needs. This challenge is only set to intensify as our over 65 population continues to expand and more of those individuals face chronic conditions that require long-term care.
The Adult Social Care Accelerator (ASCA) is an innovation accelerator that tests new technologies with a network of forward thinking care providers. The Accelerator scales the most impactful solutions across the care ecosystem by connecting corporates, local authorities, and the communities we serve.
Creating a 21st century city
Thames Freeport is a unique and transformative partnership that aims to drive trade, innovation, and economic growth, while supporting the local communities of Barking & Dagenham, Thurrock, and Havering. One key focus is adult social care, with the goal of helping people live healthier, more independent lives while alleviating pressures on care services.
Identifying Challenges & Priorities
Earlier this year, we worked with local councils and care providers to identify the biggest challenges in adult social care. Together, we agreed on three priority areas:
What’s Next?
We’re now entering the next phase—finding global tech solutions that address these priorities and identifying care providers willing to test these innovations. Trialling is set to start in early 2025, and we’re seeking partners to provide test sites and insights to ensure these technologies truly meet the needs of the people they serve.
