Jenny Shand
Jenny has been with Care City since April 2015, supporting the strategy and set up of the organisation, securing grants to fund our activities, developing the community board. In 2019 she moved into a Non-Executive Role on the board. She is Director of the Care City Cohort, a unique ten-year individual-level linked dataset for residents of Barking and Dagenham.
Jenny is Associate Professor in Health Services and Population Research at UCL with an interdisciplinary approach and research expertise in linked data, reducing inequalities and rapid service evaluation. She has expertise in forging collaborations across patient and community organisations, health and council partners, and the research and innovation system to identify opportunities for collaboration and joint work to transform outcomes in priority areas, alongside reducing inequalities.
She spent 14 years at UCLPartners, a health innovation system that spans the research in to practice pipeline, setting up the organisation and leading the strategy underpinning its expansion in functions and geographic reach.
She has had a diverse career in health care in London and internationally, as a management consultant at McKinsey, a Policy fellow at The Kings Fund and a service manager at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
She holds a PhD in Health Economics and a masters in public health and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
