Mags Kalaugher

Margaret “Mags” Kalaugher joined Care City as a Programme Lead in April 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in collaboration, innovation, and strategic leadership. She is currently working with the London Borough of Redbridge, leading an Adult Social Care Assistive Technology programme, funded by the Department of Health & Social Care, to explore the detection and prevention of falls in elderly people. She is also supporting Care City’s Redbridge Adults Front Door Diagnostic.

Mags’ diverse career spans multiple continents and sectors, reflecting her passion for complex problem-solving, strategic decision-making, and collaboration. She began her professional journey at Reuters in Devon, UK and Sydney, Australia, before transitioning into education as a science teacher. Upon returning to the UK, she moved into transport, governance, and policy, holding key roles at Transport for London (TfL) and the Greater London Authority (GLA), where she worked closely with central government, local councils, and regional authorities, including leading a Parliamentary Taskforce making the case for improved rail provision in the Upper Lee Valley and beyond to Cambridge.

Mags has also worked as a Director at The Nichols Group and ResoLex including roles at the New Hospital Programme, Sellafield (nuclear decommissioning), as Strategic Advisor (Heritage Collections) for the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme, and Strategy & Vision Specialist, supporting 101 towns across England in shaping their Town Investment Plan submissions to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

More recently, Mags has explored regenerative leadership (a practice that goes beyond sustainability to giving back to the planet, our life support system) having attended an event in Austria. Through this she has co-facilitated a regenerative leadership workshop at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent and she took a career break to explore regenerative leadership in depth.

Now at Care City, Mags is bringing her insights into regenerative leadership, helping the team reimagine health and care systems as restorative, resilient, and adaptable—driving long-term, sustainable transformation in the sector.

When she isn’t working, Mags enjoys cuddles with her cat Zena, and loves singing in choirs.
